Luther Burger aka OMFG!

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

luther burgerSo if you haven’t heard of a Luther Burger you need to find one! I only know of one place that sells them and it’s the Gateway Grizzlies Baseball team in Sauget, IL. I’m sure there are other places that sell them, but since I’m in Illinois, that’s the only place I know of. Anyways, this is most definitely worse for you than the Francheezie, but tastes just as good if not better. If you couldn’t tell by the picture to the left, a Luther Burger is a 1/2 pound burger topped with cheese and BACON (of course), but the kicker is instead of a bun, replace the bread with 2 krispy kreme glazed donuts! That’s right, those delicious, horrible for you donuts make excellent hamburger buns apparently. Honestly I’ve never experienced the awesomeness that is the Luther Burger, but I can only imagine it makes you as happy as you were/will be when you have your first child… and then eat the child cause it tastes so delicious. Ok maybe a bad analogy there, but how could something like this not be heaven on earth. Oh and if you’re wondering where the name came from, apparently Luther Vandross either invented it or just loved them a ridiculous amount. He did have diabetes, so all that sugar could have been a problem. Anyways, eat up and enjoy! Let us know if you find this delicious burger anywhere near your town!

Bacon Breakfast Cookies

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

bacon breakfast cookiesI never have time for breakfast before I head in to work in the morning, but after seeing these things I may have to make a batch the night before. Over at Cookin’ in the ‘Cuse, they have a delicious recipe for breakfast cookies that contains bacon of course. The cookies resemble an oatmeal raisin cookie, but when you bite into them you are in for much more than just raisins!

  • 1/2 lb. bacon
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups of multi-grain flakes or corn flakes
  • 1/2 cup raisins

And this is how you make it according to “Cookin’ in the ‘Cuse

“Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Cook bacon until very crisp, drain well and break into 1/2 inch pieces.  Beat together butter and sugar till light and fluffy.  Beat in egg.  Combine flour and baking soda; stir into butter mixture.  Stir in bacon, mult-grain flakes and raisins.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.  Space 2 inches apart.  Bake for 15-18 minutes.  Remove to rack to cool–about 2 minutes, then remove from rack. ”

These sound absolutely delicious and I’m getting hungry just thinking about them. If anyone out there has a chance to make these, feel free to leave your comments below and let us know what you think! And don’t forget to check out Cookin’ in the ‘Cuse for other great recipes and food talk!
